DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 1 and 2. There is moderate step deviation under columns 5 through 9, with an offset direction of 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen under the O of GOD.
Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen to between the rim and the left base of the memorial building.

DESCRIPTION: Light fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under column 3. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 6, 7 and 8, with an offset direction of 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die scratch below Lincoln’s shoulder.
Reverse is MDS – small die dot on the right side of the vertical bar of the E in CENT.

DESCRIPTON: Isolated trail lines are seen on the right side corners of the C, E and N of CENT. The offset direction is 100º. This die was found by Louis Schaeffer of Maryland
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – two parallel scratches are seen in front of Lincoln’s forehead.
Reverse is MDS – none noted.

DESCRIPTION: This is a combination trail die with wavy steps. Single fluting line extension, into the stylobate, is seen under columns 2, 3, 11 and 12. Light to moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The trail lines are carried down to the word CENT and are seen on the lower left corners of those letters. The offset direction is 190º. While a combination of trail lines from other design elements beside the stairs and also the stairs is not a rare occurrence, it is not that common. This combination also shows the relationship of trails to wavy steps, which are one in the same thing, only in different locations. This die was found by Louis Schaeffer of Maryland.

Reverse is EDS – die scratches from the last A in AMERICA down to the designer’s initials. There is also a small die gouge on the left leg of the N in CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Light fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 2 and 3. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7and 8. The offset direction is 190º. This die was found by Louis Schaeffer of Maryland.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is EMDS – Heavy die scratching is seen on the obverse.
Reverse is EMDS – Three heavy die scratches are seen above the left roof of the Memorial building. Heavy die scratching is seen below the Memorial building.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the lower half of this die. The N and E of ONE, all the letters in CENT, the right side corners of the stylobate and the designer’s initials all have trail lines. The offset direction of all the lines on this die is 070 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die dot on top of the 9 digit. A small die dot is seen in the lower loop of the B in LIBERTY.
Reverse is MDS – none noted.

DESCRIPTION: Light to moderate fluting line extension can be seen entering into the styloabte under columns 2, 3, 11 and 12. Moderate step deviation can be seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is EDS – a die dent is seen through the U of TRUST.
Reverse is LDS – heavy die scratching is seen through the EPU and below the memorial building. Three strong die scratches are seen around the ON of ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the tops of the letters in EPU. Also seen is a single trail line from the last S in STATES. The offset direction is 350 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – none noted
Reverse is EDS – a diagonal die scratch is seen from the E to the S of STATES. Also seen is another faint side scratch from the first T of STATES.
