DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension is seen under columns 1, 2 3, 10, 11 and 12. Strong to moderate step deviation is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. This is one of the rare wavy steps that distortion is seen under all the columns. The offset direction is 170 degrees.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the upper right corners of the motto. Also seen are trail lines (nubs) from the top of the letters in STATES. A nice trail on the right planter and nice trails on the letters of ONE CENT compliment this nice trails die. Note the trail line crossing over from the left side of the horizontal bar of the T in CENT.Approximate offset direction is 060 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – none noted.
Reverse is EMDS – die scratches polishing away remnants of a clash can be seen running through the center of the memorial bays.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 4, 5, 6,7 and 8. The offset direction is 180 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is VLDS – a die gouge is seen on top of Lincoln’s head below and between the letters of WE. Another die gouge is seen on the S of TRUST.
Reverse is EDS – a small die gouge is seen in bay seven, opposite of Lincoln’s statue.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – two groups of small die gouges are seen on Lincoln’s shoulder.
Reverse is MDS – two die gouges, one on the upper left edge and the other on the inside are seen on the O in ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen entering the stylobate under columns 2 and 3. Step deviation is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a die scratch is seen under the ERTY of LIBERTY. Light die scratching is seen in front of Lincoln’s face.
Reverse is MDS – two die clashes are seen in various positions on the reverse. Pictured are the clash marks seen in bays 8 and 9 and under the U of UNUM.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate to strong trails can be seen on the right base of the memorial, ONE CENT (with an extremely strong trail on the top of the T), and on UNITED. These trails travel approximately 070 degrees. There are another set of light to moderate trails from ST.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – A small die gouge to the SE of the first 9 of the date.
Reverse is MDS – A long die scratch under E PLURIBUS. A long die scratch is seen from the roof top to the E of AMERICA. Numerous die scratches are seen above ONE CENT.

DESCRIPTION: Light to moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 180°.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C “, obverse is LDS – heavy die scratches are seen through the 19 of the date and over the RTY of LIBERTY.
Reverse is LDS – a pair of die gouges is seen under the G of the designer’s initials.

DESCRIPTION: Distortion with light trail lines is seen in the motto EPU. The offset direction is 350°. A reciprocal set of trail lines manifest itself as wavy steps in the Memorial building. Fluting line extension can be seen under columns 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11. The offset direction for this set of trail lines is 170°
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is MDS – a die crack is seen from the left of Lincoln’s ear, up through the W of WE and into the rim.
Reverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen under the diagonal bar of the N in ONE.
