DESCRIPTION: Trails can be seen on the TE of STATES, OF. on some of the letters of EPU, on the corner of the levels on the stylobate, the designer’s initials, the T of CENT and the top of the left URN. What is unusual with this die is the splits on the floor seen under the right side columns. This die was found by Joe Koelling of North Carolina and it is considered a major trail die. The offset direction is 070 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die gouge under the VDB.
Reverse is MDS – die gouge under the lower horizontal bar of the E in ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen on the bottom of the letters in ONE. There is an extension of the left base line with a split occurring on that line just below the first left shrub. There are trail lines occurring from both the cornice and roof corners, with distortion seen on the cornice edge.
The UN of UNITED has some distortion on the top part of the letters. Trail lines can be seen on the E and left dot of the motto EPU. The offset direction is 270 degrees. This unusual die was found by Bill Slaughter of Arkansas.

DESCRIPTION: Light trails can be seen from the bottoms of the left side letters in EPU. Trails are also seen from the left base tip and on the bottoms of the N and E of ONE. The offset direction is 240 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die scratches are present in and around the date.
Reverse is LDS – die scratching is seen in bays 1, 2 and 3.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen from the tops of the letters in the EPU and also on the scroll work on the cornice. The offset direction is 350 degrees.

Reverse is LDS – small die gouge in the D of UNITED. Die gouge to the left of the O in ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting line extension is seen entering the stylobate under columns 2 and 3. Moderate step deviation occurs under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 190 degrees
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – diagonal die scratching is seen through the date and LIBERTY. More than likely, this die pair did not start together for the obverse die appears to be abraded to remove a die clash which the reverse does not have.
Reverse is LDS – three die chips in column 2. Die scratch on the upper terminus of the C in AMERICA.

DESCRIPTION: A fluting line extension is seen under column 3 entering into the stylobate. Sharp, moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, with an offset direction of 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – small die dot is seen under the R of LIBERTY.
Reverse is LDS – a dot is seen in mid bay 4.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines are seen from the bottom left corners of the AMERI of AMERICA. The offset direction is 270 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “D”, obverse is VLDS. Vertical die scratches are seen through the Y of LIBERTY.
Reverse is VLDS – diagonal die scratches are seen through the E and the P of PLURIBUS. There are heavy metal flow lines from the tops of the letters in UNITED.

DESCRIPTION: Light trail lines are seen from the top left corners of the letters in EPU, the last S of STATES, the word OF and the NE of ONE. The offset direction is 330 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “D”, obverse is VLDS – an old die gouge is seen below and between the S and T of TRUST. A small die dot is seen to the right of the upper curve of the first 9 digit in the date.
Reverse is VLDS – none noted.
