DESCRIPTION: This is an exceptionally strong trail die. Trail lines are seen under all the columns, the lettering in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the designer’s initials and the motto E . PLURIBUS . UNUM. The offset direction is 180°. This is considered the second strongest trail die to date.

DESCRIPTION: Dual trails can be seen from STATE in STATES. The offset direction is 90 degrees for ST & E and 270 degrees for the two Ts in STATES.

DIE MAKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – No markers identified
Reverse is MDS – Gouge above FG; die scratches in bays 1-3 and below EPU.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the MER of AMERICA, under columns 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12 and the bottom of the designer’s initials. Also seen are trail lines in the form of wavy steps under columns 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The offset direction is 180º. This is considered a major trail die.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C“, obverse is EDS – a die scratch is seen just to the right of the R in TRUST.
Reverse is LDS – a small die dot is seen over the T of CENT. A die clash is seen on the reverse die above the Memorial building roof. Since there is no evidence of abrasion on the obverse die, it is surmised that this die was changed out.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the NE of ONE, the stylobate corners on the left side of the Memorial building, the left corners of the cornice and the roof of the Memorial building, the E of UNITED the motto EPU, the last T and S of STATES, the cornice edging and the tops of the left columns in the Memorial building. The offset direction of the trail lines is 330º. This is considered a major trail die.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a die dot is seen below the second nine digit in the date. Die damage is seen below the word IN.
Reverse is MDS – a die dot is seen over the designer’s initials. A curved die scratch is seen from the U of united down to the lower stylobate corner.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines with distortion, are seen on all the letters of the motto EPU. Trail lines are also seen from the tops of all the columns, the last S of SATES, the word OF and the AMER of AMERICA. A faint trail line can be seen from the top of the right URN. The offset direction is 330.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C“, obverse is LDS – a die gouge is seen high in the field above the ER of LIBERTY.
Reverse is LDS – a strong die scratch is seen from the right corner of the Memorial building roof to the R of AMERICA.
