DESCRIPTION: Fluting line extension is seen under columns 2 and 3. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. There is distortion to the letters in the EPU; this may be caused by movement of the die against the hub. The offset direction is 190 degrees.

DIE MARKERS Reverse is MDS- a die gouge is seen: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted under the right leg of the last A in AMERICA. A die dot is seen in the field to the left of the corner of the stylobate on the Lincoln memorial building.

DESCRIPTION: Light step distortion is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 180 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a die dot is seen under the B of LIBERTY and another die dot is seen just above the first 9 digit of the date.

Reverse is MDS – a small die dot is on the roof edge under the S of PLURIBUS. There is die damage in the lower part of bay 9.

DESCRIPTION: Light step distortion is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 190 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – a pair of die gouges is seen under the last T of TRUST.

Reverse is MDS – die clashes are seen in bays 4 and 8. A die gouge is seen just above the left Memorial building base.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate step distortion is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The offset direction is 180 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.

Reverse is MDS – a die crack is seen in the upper part of column 2. A pair of die gouges is seen between the last A of AMERICA and the designer’s initials.

Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – none noted

Reverse is LMDS – a die chip has developed on the upper part of column2. Die damage is seen in bay 2, next to column 2.

DESCRIPTION: two set of trail lines are seen on this die. The first set is seen on the EPU, STATES, the AMERI of AMERICA and the right corners of the stylobate, the F of the designer’s initials and the top of the left URN. The offset direction for this set is 040 degrees. The second set is seen on the ENT of CENT. This set has an offset direction of 090 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is LMDS – die dents are seen under the S of TRUST.  A die gouge is seen under the last 9 digit in the date.

Reverse is LMDS – a die chip is seen on the left edge of the cornice. A long die scratch is seen through the T of CENT ending just below the Memorial building base line.

DESCRIPTION: Isolated trail lines are seen from the left corner of the Memorial building roof, the first left period in EPU, the L of PLURIBUS, the first A of AMERICA and the E of ONE. The offset direction of all trail lines is 260°.

Reverse is MDS – a die scratch is seen from the rim to the left top corner of the F in OF.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines can be seen from the tops of the letters in EPU and the 2nd S of STATES. The offset direction is 330 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – Small die gouges In front of the forehead.

Reverse is EDS – die clashes can be seen in bays 3, and 4.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the top of the letters in the motto EPU.  Also seen are trail lines from the ERI of AMERICA and the EN of CENT. The offset direction is 350º.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen between the 1 and 9 of the date.

Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen to the left of the left stylobate corners.
