DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the bottom right corners of the LLO of MONTICELLO and the N of CENTS. This is a VLDS die and more trail lines maybe present on earlier die states. The offset direction is 140°.

Description: Trail lines are seen from bottom of the windows and columns in the Monticello building. These lines are seen transversing the stairs to the entrance of that building giving the steps a “wavy” appearance. Also seen are trail lines from the words “MONTICELLO, FIVE CENTS” and “UNITED SATES OF AMERICA”. This is the first wavy step reported for the Jefferson nickel. The offset direction is 190°.

STAGE “B”
Description: Strong trail lines are seen on all devices on the bottom half of the reverse die on this 2013P Jefferson nickel. The strength of the trail lines seems to increase from right to left. The trail lines through the stairs of Monticello have distorted their shape giving an appearance of waves, hence the term wavy steps. The offset direction for these trail lines is 180°. This is definitely a major trail die.
