DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6 7 and 8 , with emphasis on the left side.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die crack on Lincoln’s bow tie.

Reverse is MDS – small die gouges between the A and T of STATES.

DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting lines under columns 10, 11 and 12.Light to moderate steps deviation is seen under columns 5 through 8. Also seen is a small trail line on the F of the designer’s initials.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouge on the first 0 of the date.

Reverse is MDS – die gouge on the O of ONE. A small die chip is seen on the N of ONE.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B” obverse is MDS – die crack on Lincoln’s forehead.

Reverse is MDS – large die crack the length of column 1. Die crack on top of column 2. Two die cracks on the top of column 3.

DESCRIPTION: Multi fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10, 11 and 12. Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die chip on Lincoln’s nose

Reverse is MDS – die gouge under third from the right shrubs.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none observed

Reverse is MDS – die gouge to the upper right of the D in UNITED. An extra column is seen to the right of Lincoln statue.

NOTE: The extra seventh column makes this a DDR.

 

2003P-1DER-017T                                    270°

DESCRIPTION: Trails are seen from the bottom of the letters in AMERICA. The offset direction is 270 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouge to the left of the L in LIBERTY.

Reverse is MDS – extra column on the seventh column. Die dot above the first U of PLURIBUS.

NOTE: This is also a DDR die due to the extra column. This die was found by Jimmy Ehrhart.

DESCRIPTION: Light step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8, with an offset direction of 180 degrees.

Reverse is ELDS – die gouge to the lower right of the designer’s initial.

Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none observed

Reverse is MDS – die crack from column 1, into bay 1. Die chip on the upper left of column 2. Die gouge to the lower right of the designer’s initials is still present.

 

2003P-1DER-019WS                                190°

DESCRIPTION: Light fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 2 and 3. Light step deviation is seen under columns 5 through 8, with an offset direction of 190 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none observed

Reverse is MDS – die crack from the left cornice tip into the field. A small die dot is seen on the right side of the O in ONE.

 

2003P-1DER-020T                                   320°


DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines from the tops of all the columns, the majority of the letters in EPU and the bottom termini of the two S in STATES. The offset direction is 320 degrees.

DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die gouges in the second 0 of the DATE.

Reverse is MDS – two extra columns and an extra knee.

NOTE: This die was found and photographed by Bob Piazza.

This is also doubled die reverse due to the doubling seen on Lincoln’s statue.
