DESCRIPTION: Strong fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 2 and 3. Moderate, sharp step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6 and 7 and very light step deviation under column 8. The offset direction is 190 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “A”, obverse is EDS – this wavy step is coupled with a minor doubled die obverse which can be seen as a division line, with added thickness on the Y of LIBERTY and notching on the upper left of the horizontal bar on the T of LIBERTY. Die scratching seen under and through GOD
Reverse – none noted.
2004P-1DER-010WS 190°
DESCRIPTION: Moderate fluting lines under columns 2 and 3 with moderate step deviation is seen under columns 5, 6, 7 and 8. This wavy step is coupled with a minor doubled die obverse.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – notching and extra thickness on the 2 of the DATE. Extra thickness is seen on the two 0 of the DATE and Lincoln’s bow tie. Extra thickness and division lines are seen on the RTY of LIBERTY. Die gouge on Lincoln’s forehead.
Reverse is MDS – Die crack in cornice above bay 3.
NOTE: With the strength of the trail lines and step deviation, along with the obverse doubled die, this die is considered to be a major trail die.
