DESCRIPTION: Light fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under column 3. Very light steps deviation under columns 5, 6 and 7.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – two die gouges under collar edge.
Reverse is MDS – die crack under the cross bar of the A in sates. Die crack on the right side of the second T in STATES.
NOTE: This die was found by Richard Cooper of Arizona.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from the left side letters in EPU, the ED of UNITED and the ST of STATES. The offset direction is 330 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die gouges are seen immediately below and below the mint mark
Reverse is MDS – a small die gouge is seen in the O of ONE. A die gouge is seen to the right of the first block on the left base line of the Memorial building.
NOTE: This die was found by Michael Pope of Illinois.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen on the UNI of UNITED, The TATE of STATES, the left side of the motto EPU, the left corners of the roof, the cornice, the stylobates, the base line and the NE of ONE. The offset direction is 270 degrees.
Die Markers: Obverse is MDS – a small die dot is seen on the left edge of the collar.
Reverse is MDS – a die gouge is seen over the shrubs on the left side of the Memorial building.
1998D-1DER-004T 090°, 270°
DESCRIPTION: This is a dual directional trail die with reciprocal trail lines. The first set, with an offset direction of 090°, is seen from the T of CENT, the designer’s initials, the stylobate the corners of the cornice and roof and the C of AMERICA. The other set, which has an offset direction of 270°, is seen on the bottom of the NE of ONE and the left base tip of the Memorial Building.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B “, obverse is VLDS – a group of die gouges is seen above LIBERTY. Another smaller group of die gouges is seen above the date.
Reverse is MDS – none noted
