CANADIAN TRAIL DIES

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen from ZABE of ELIZABETH, the RATIA of GRATIA and the letters of REGINA. Also seen are faint trails from the denticles. This is a dual direction trail die with a direction of 000 degrees and 180 degrees seen. This coin is also coupled with a reverse trail die.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die breaks in the dentiles between ELIZABETH and REGINA.
Reverse is MDS – reverse trail die 1953(CAN)-5DER-001T.

DESCRIPTION: Strong trail lines are seen from the lower left side denticles, the CAN of CANADA and from the 1 and the 5 of the date. The offset direction is 050 degrees. This die is coupled with the obverse trail die 1953(CAN)-5DEO-001T.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – 1953(CAN)-5DEO-001T
Reverse is MDS – die scratches through the designer’s initials. Die scratches on the right side of the second A in CANADA.

MEXICAN TRAIL DIES
1971(Mex)-1(P)DEO-001T 010°,340°
DESCRIPTION: Trail lines on the obverse die are seen on the bottom of the letters in UN PESO. The offset direction is 010 degrees for the obverse die. The reverse die shows trails from the top left corners on the letters of MEXICANOS. Also seen are short trail lines in the underside of the left wing of the eagle. The offset direction for these trail lines is 340 degrees.

NOTES: While all three of the Mexican obverse and reverse dies appear to be similar, they have small differences that do set them all apart.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines on the obverse die are seen on the bottom of the letters in UN PESO; however, there is a slight difference in the offset direction. In this case it is 005 degrees. The reverse die has trail lines on UNIDOS and ESTDOS with an offset direction of 020 degrees.
DIE MARKERS: Stage “C”, obverse is est. to be LDS – none noted.
Reverse is est. to be LDS – heavy die scratch is seen on the lower part of the O in MEXICANOS.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines on the obverse die are seen on the letters P and E of PESO. Again, there is a slight difference in the offset direction. This time it is 000 degrees. The reverse die has trail lines affecting the letters in MEXICANOS with an offset direction of 000 degrees.

Reverse is est. to be MDS – short vertical die scratches are seen on the body of the rattle snake.

DESCRIPTION: Trail lines are seen on the lower stars, also the doubled stars and faintly on the dots. This is also a strong Class IV (offset) doubled die reverse. The offset direction is 270 degrees.

2006(IND)-100(R)DER-001T 030°
DESCRIPTION: Sharp, moderate trails are seen on the reverse die of this 2006 Jagat Guru Shree Narayan Gurudev, 100 Rupee coin from India. The letters in INDIA and RUPEE show trails with an offset direction of 030 degrees as does the top script line on the opposite side of the die. This is a commemorative coin from a two piece set.

The obverse shows the strongest trail lines on this 2000, 5 Tolarjev, Slovenia coin. The offset direction is 180°. This coin is in the collection of Bob Piazza.
The reverse shows faint trail lines from the word CAPRA. The offset direction is 000°.
URUGUAY
1869(URY)-4(cen)DEO-001T 180°
DESCRIPTION: Moderate trail lines are seen on the EPUB of REPUBLICA. The offset direction is 180 degrees. The coin is from Uruguay and is a 4 centesimos denomination.
NOTE: This is the oldest trail die found in existence to date.
